Invisalign Clear Braces Straightens Belmont Smiles
Having misaligned teeth can really detract from a sophisticated, attractive smile. However, many adults don’t consider braces because they simply do not want to wear metal brackets and wires for two or more years. Dr. David Salibian understands this concern -- and that’s why he is pleased to offer Invisalign clear braces. This treatment is just one of many options in cosmetic dentistry that can be found at Waverly Dental Care. Keep reading to find out how Invisalign works and whether or not it is right for you today!
What Is Invisalign?
The Invisalign system consists of a set of clear, removable aligners that fit comfortably in the mouth and place gentle pressure on different areas of the bite to gradually reposition teeth. Because the trays are made out of high quality clear plastic, most people won’t notice you’re wearing clear braces. However, you are able to remove the aligners for limited special occasions, to clean your teeth, and when you eat. Most patients complete the Invisalign treatment in 12 to 18 months – usually less time than traditional orthodontic treatment.
What Does Invisalign Fix?
Because the treatment can usually correct the same issues that are treatable with conventional braces, many patients are eligible candidates for Invisalign. The most common orthodontic issues are treatable with clear braces, but more significant misalignments may still require treatment with conventional braces.
Invisalign can successfully treat...
- Gapped teeth
- Crowded teeth
You should be in good oral health, free from tooth decay and gum disease, before beginning any elective treatment. We will schedule a checkup and hygiene appointment first to ensure you start Invisalign with clean, healthy teeth and gums.
Living With Invisalign
Living with Invisalign is easy thanks to the clear, removable aligners. We will discuss the specifics with you before you start, but for your convenience we have listed some of the guidelines here, too.
- Wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, removing them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and for limited special occasions.
- Advance to the next aligner in the treatment after one to two weeks, depending on our recommendation.
- Always store your Invisalign aligners in their hard cases when not in use.
- Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly before you reinsert the aligners.
- Rinse your aligners after you remove them and before reinsertion.
- Never expose your aligners to hot water, which could warp them.
- Attend your regular checkups with Dr. Saliban to ensure you are progressing through the treatment as planned.
Follow these instructions and you will make it through the Invisalign treatment without any delays. Once you are finished, we will set you up with a clear retainer to ensure your teeth remain in the proper position for a lifetime to come.
